WINNER : Bathroom Splash

So , I determine up the television camera in our bathroom on a tripod and used a remote to snap multiple photos while also being the subject . No fancy firing , just the one visible radiation in the lav and the flash of the television camera to bestow out the water . My eff fellow is the one who had the sheer pleasure of “ splashing” … or rather , plunge jars of urine colored with blue and reddened nutrient dye at my cheek repeatedly . I chose this one because even though we used only puritanical and red dye , they mixed in such a mode to make over-embellished and pink … I even see a little orangeness and some indigo in there too . Camera is a Canon 60D , lense 18 - 135 mm with the ISO set to 800 .

Ripe

This shot was partially inspired by Alice in Wonderland : Instead of painting white rose red , I thought I ’d “ mature ” an Apple from unripened to red … with paint . The setup was a bit complicated and ask a gang of experiment . For my workplace control surface , I ended up using a step - dejection with a removable bloodless tray on top of the bathtub , that way I could quickly clean house the rouge after each round of shots ( and contain the raft ) . As far as material , I used red washable kids paint mixed with different sum of water . It lease a few attempt ( and cleanup ) to receive the perfect “ flamboyant ” consistence . Finally , I used Scrubbing Bubbles to take away all the paint from the tub . This was a life saver . particular thanks go to my friend Kirsten from mastering the nontextual matter of teem paint over an Apple . Canon T2i , 55 millimeter , f/18 , 1/200 , forced news bulletin . I used Aperture and Adobe Photoshop for redaction .

Drop

The first thing I thought of when I saw this Splash shooting challenge were paradigm I had seen of drop of color into liquids , and I had always desire to try it . This shooting challenge gave me the opportunity to . I discover a pile about my new premier lens of the eye in the process and hope to strain this experimentation again for unlike results and with different color . Nikon D5100 , 35 mm , 1/40000sec , f/1.8 , ISO 100

Pain(t)ball Portraits

This is from a series of “ paintball portraits ” that I ’m currently working on . Based on classic prissy portraiture , I start by firing paintball to create the pedestal and then finish up the brass by hand . Then I shoot the finished small-arm while it ’s still wet to seize the texture . Shot with a Canon 5Dmk3 w/ 24 - 70 mm @ f14 , 1/100 sec .

Thunk Clump

I was glad that at the end of the verbal description for the color splatter challenge it enunciate “ really try this , ” it made me want to go out of my way to do this . Chalk powder is ostensibly not too easy to discover around here so I bought a package of Methedrine , blended it in a liquidizer , and then baked it to remove the moisture ( so it would n’t cluster ) . It still clumped up somewhat badly . As this was my first prison term doing a gunpowder shoot , and I do n’t have a studio apartment , I went to a very helpful Quaker ’s flat with a bleak placard board for a background signal and we used a sheet to captivate the excess powder . By the end of the night the photographic camera , apartment , and ourselves were covered in shabu but we had made some passably coolheaded look-alike . Lit with two desklamps on chairs and the bright white bulbs from the Soft Box challenge , black tri - fold posterboard tapdance to a door for the backdrop and shot on a Canon 400D with a kit 18 - 55 millimetre on Aperture Priority mode , ISO 1600 @ f/22 , 1/200sec and a Canon 430EX II speedlight on top . edit in Photoshop with a NIK tone mapping hack in . I ca n’t explain how chalky this was , but wholly deserving it .

Chess Mani - Pedi

A spyglass chess musical composition with coloured nail refinement ( both foam and non - sparkled ) . We conceive it would be a decent idea since we did n’t have any colored chalk to enjoyment ( or a good place to fox it – it ’s been raining ! ) . Taken with a Canon Rebel T3i with the kit lens ( 18 - 55 mm ) and a macro attachment . ISO 800 , 1/30 shutter speed , f/5.6 and on manual mode . Just used ashen paper for the background ( again , miss textile and space ) .

Playing In The Dirt

I used my nephew and niece to essay the challenge . I used a green screen . built earlier this year to have fun playing around with for featherbrained composites . Originally , we tried to apply piss for the trope . I end up choosing an double of one of my nephew ’s with wanton red soil from the fence in desert being chuck at him by his sister ( much to her satisfaction ) . During the process of brush up some of the images one nephew shouted , “ We await like the Croods . ” So , here is the image of my litte caveboy nephew . Camera : Nikon D200 , Lens : Nikkor ; 55 – 200 mm f/4.0 - 5.6 , Focal length 105 mm , ISO 400 , f/ 5.6 @ 1/250 , Crop : expression ratio 4:5 , , Lighting : Ambient : loose spook f/5.6 @ 1/250 , Strobe : 2 Alienbees 1600 , Key : above model ( adequate to ambient ) , Fill : directly in front ; f/4

Orange and Blue

Christian ( the model ) is a very dear friend of mine . We tried some film with powder in orange as you could see but I did n’t get the shot I desire . We did n’t had so much orangish powder so we start to try some photograph with blue pulverisation . Meanwhile the sun become down I must go for ISO 3200 because I still desire to shoot with 1/320 , to get the squeamish effect of the pulverisation . In the oddment it work very well and we essay different backgrounds … We end up with some nice brown Ellen Price Wood . I use my Canon 6D with 24 - 105 mm f/4 , ISO 3200 and no newsbreak or something else …

Bacteria Swarm

For this week ’s photo challenge , I did a ‘ splash of color ’ with bacteria from a salmon ’s gill onto a SWC nutrient agar plate . They are fluorescent bacteria that produce sparkle with luciferase . I took the motion picture with my Olympus E - PL1 . f/5.5 . 13 secs . ISO100 .

Sprinkle Rain

I had some really fun trial and error photos that came out of this . Originally , I really wanted to do something with water droplet or food coloring in water . Well , for some reason nothing turned out the direction I wanted . So I look around the house for something colorful that I might be able to use . I turned to a receptive box I made my 1yr old girl . It ’s full of Elmer Reizenstein I colored with food for thought dye . I did n’t think it would give me anything good than my water mind , but when I started pouring it in front of the camera , I realized I was wrong . I loved the mode it looked ! I admit , I enhanced the color and contrast a petty bit , and I did crop my hand out of the picture , but I ’m still passably happy with the way this turned out ! Canon Rebel XL , f/1.8 , 1/200 sec , ISO-100 , +2 footprint , 50 mm , compulsory flash .
