NASA has releasedthis beautiful image of the Saturn ring , looking directly down — the outer portion of the C ring and the inner portion of the B ring . According to NASA , “ the worldwide pattern is from “ dirty ” particle indicated by red to unclouded ice subatomic particle shown in turquoise in the outer parts of the anchor ring . ”
This image was get by its Ultraviolet Imaging Spectrograph instrument , which is capable of resolving the rings to show feature up to 97 kilometers ( 60 mile ) across , roughly 100 time the firmness of ultraviolet data obtained by the Voyager 2 space vehicle .
