But not so fast , says Lynch , who — along with most of Autonomy ’s elderly management — leave alone HP month ago . This hasall the makings of a book binding - up :

I guess what has happened here is that they have got themselves in a mess .
They did the skill of EDS , they had to publish that one down . They had to write Palm down . When Autonomy was acquired it was done by a CEO who wanted to get rid of various divisions of that line of work and run with software .

There was a series of mismanagement footmark . They lost hundreds of the talented people at Autonomy . They whole direction squad basically locomote out of the door . Sadly they are left with the consequence of having destroyed all that value .

A serious response to a serious charge , but one that does ring at least a little dead on target . Is it really possible that HP could own Autonomy for a whole year before discovering such a strident malfeasance ? And does n’t HP have every ground to make a whipping boy out of phantom clerking computer error ?
Well , really , yes , come to call back of it . deplorable as it is , the only catch in Lynch ’s logical argument is that HP ’s management has been just bungle enough these last several years that a $ 9 billion method of accounting clasp is just the kind of thing they ’d miss . In fact , the only real surprise — given the board ’s recent history — is that they did n’t find a mode to name it CEO.[WSJ ]
