Ed Sheeranperformed for a tough crowd in Japan on Tuesday.
As soon as Sheeran attempts his first strum, most of the cats quickly scatter, forgetting their food to escape the music.
“Trying to win over the same kitties that ran away from me in 2014, same results,” Sheeran playfully captioned the post.
“It was not more successful than my last visit,” Sheeran says. The video then cuts to footage of the singer’s 2014 visit to the cat cafe, which shows him performing to one annoyed-looking feline.
The Instagram video ends in 2024 with close-ups of the cafe cats staring into the camera from afar, seemingly waiting for Sheeran to stop his music.
Another wrote, “Ed Sheeran is my spirit animal.”

Not all felines are afraid of the Grammy winner, though. In December, Sheeran shared a photo of himself cuddled up to one ofTaylor Swift’sthree cats,Meredith Grey, as part of asocial media photo dump.
Sheeran captioned the post, “Dumpington #3.”
In the sweet snap, the “Shape of You” singer, smiling and wearing a simple white tee, has his face cozied up to the kitty as the two lay on an ottoman.

“Ed confirming that Mer is alive is the highlight of my week 👏,” one person wrote.
Another added: “END GAME (TAYLOR’S VERSION) WE CHEERED,” alluding to Sheeran’s potential involvement in thehighly-anticipatedReputation (Taylor’s Version)re-recording session.
Swift has previously said that out of her three cats, Meredith, named afterEllen Pompeo’scharacter inGrey’s Anatomy, prefers tostay out of the spotlight.
“The truth is, Meredith just hates having her picture taken,” Swift said of Meredith in 2020. “… So yeah, there it is. There’s the explanation. She’s just a really private little cat. She likes her business kept to herself. She doesn’t like a camera shoved in her face, and who can blame her? So there’s your update on Meredith.”
