After first meeting at a gala in 2011, Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett would embark ona beautiful friendshipboth on and off the stage. They first collaborated shortly after their first meeting on Bennett’sDuets IIsinging “The Lady Is a Tramp.”
“It was the first time I heard Lady perform,” Bennett toldParadein 2014 of their first meeting. “And I could not believe the audience’s reaction.”
He added: “The first thing I said was, ‘Let’s do an album together.’ And she said, ‘Okay.’ That quick. I just love what she did on [our album,Cheek toCheek]. She’s up there with Ella Fitzgerald, who was the greatest singer in the world.”
