Gamma ray are the most powerful character of light , extremely dangerous to life-time form . They can take form in nuclear reactions , as well as in and around powerful astronomical events and consistence , such as calamitous maw , pulsar , and supernovae . Studying the cosmos in gamma rays spread out a window on these extremes andNASA ’s Fermihas been doing that for a decade and a half .
The telescope scanned the whole sky every 24-hour interval using its Large Area Telescope ( LAT ) between August 2008 and August 2022 . The video below shows two views used by scientist . One focalise on the plane of the Milky Way at the center , and one is made by two hemispherical perspective , with our galaxy at the edge . The first helps with studying what goes on nearer to family , and the other with what fall out in other galaxies .

“ One of the first things to strike your optic in the movie is a source that steady arcs across the screen . Racusin narrate the picture show , explain the science and highlight some of the objects get word by the scope . “ The variations tell us that something about these jets has deepen , ” Racusin say . “ We routinely watch these sources and alarm other telescopes , in blank space and on the ground , when something interesting is going on .
